Project Description

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service awarded this project to Perini Management Services under our MATOC for Department of Interior agencies in order to utilize time-limited Hurricane Sandy funds for shoreline erosion control. The Perini team conducted investigative studies and performed conceptual and final design. We then constructed 26 stone breakwaters with plantings to implement Headland Control and Living Shoreline stabilization techniques. Martin National Wildlife Refuge is on Smith Island in the Chesapeake Bay, 12 miles from Maryland's Eastern Shore.
