Project Description

Perini Management Services performed two underground electrical projects within the large cave system at Carlsbad Caverns National Park to replace old and unsafe lighting and to install new feature lighting along the visitor pathways. Careful planning and phasing was required to schedule the work within an active bat habitat. Special precautions also had to be taken to protect the many natural and fragile features of the caves. Much of the work was performed at night, as the Caverns were open to the public daily.

“The management team was one of the best that I've worked with and their subcontractor was exceptional. This project was highly complex and technical. Working with the Cave environment in geologically challenging circumstances was remarkable. They were very customer service oriented and worked very well with the park staff our staff here at Denver Service Center.”
