Coast Guard Hangar Achieves LEED Silver Rating

Perini's design-build Marine Patrol Aircraft (MPA) Hangar facility at U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod has achieved LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The 96,235-sf hangar achieved 52 points under the LEED for New Construction Rating System. LEED highlights include the installation of geothermal well fields for the HVAC system (64 wells at 250 feet deep); installation of a rainwater harvest system to recycle rainwater for gray water usage; and utilization of materials with recycled content.
